Albemarle is hiring for an Analytical R&T Chemist I in Kings Mountain , NC (Technical Center) . This position will be onsite .

What you will do

  • Conduct sampling, preparation, and analysis of materials using advanced analytical techniques such as ICP-OES, PSD, titration, BET, and TGA
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized laboratory while adhering to all HS&E policies and standard operating procedures
  • Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods to support materials characterization and research initiatives
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instrumentation to ensure accurate and reliable data generation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional R&D and technical teams to meet project goals and timelines
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, clearly communicating findings to internal stakeholders
  • Document experimental procedures, results, and observations in laboratory notebooks and electronic systems

What you bring
Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline
  • At least 1 year of laboratory experience working with chemicals and analytical instrumentation
  • Strong commitment to laboratory safety and experience following safety protocols and audits
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain detailed records, and communicate results effectively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and general computer skills

It'd be great if you also have:

  • Experience working with advanced analytical instrumentation and materials characterization techniques
  • Familiarity with method development and validation in a research or industrial laboratory setting
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-based environment
  • Experience documenting work in electronic lab notebooks or data management systems
  • Good manual dexterity and ability to handle delicate laboratory equipment
