Position Description

The Staff Accountant is a key member of the Finance and Administration Team. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of our firm and association management clients through providing accounting and operational support. To be successful in this role, you will need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members.

As a Staff Accountant, you will: 

  • Provide accounting support to association management clients and their team members, including financial reporting and analysis, budget management, invoicing, and compliance support.

  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with the primary liaisons to MultiState’s association clients to facilitate smooth financial operations.

  • Provide accounting support to MultiState’s Lobbying Compliance solution.

  • Maintain organized financial documentation, including invoices, receipts, and supporting records for all financial transactions for audit and compliance purposes.

  • Adhere to financial procedures, ensuring alignment with company policy and industry standards.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure financial data aligns with company targets.

  • Handle billing processes through ensuring all bills for vendors are paid in an accurate and timely manner; monitor vendor payments and reconcile irregularities as needed.

  • Provide financial, operational, and administrative support to the leadership team for special projects as assigned.

To be successful, you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

  • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities

  • The ability to write clearly, concisely, and expeditiously 

  • Demonstrated success prioritizing and completing tasks and projects

  • Proven ability to operate with integrity and ethics and maintain the highest standards of confidentiality

  • High level of detail and demonstrated work output with little/no errors

  • Sense of urgency; willingness and ability to meet and exceed established deadlines 

  • Organizational agility and a team player

We prefer that you have:

  • Strong Google and / or Microsoft Office skills, including Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets

  • Experience with Quickbooks, Docusign, and Trello
