The role
The MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit (MRC IEU) is seeking to support motivated researchers who wish to consolidate their PhD or MSc research through a short-term training position to be held at the MRC IEU.
This opportunity is aimed as researchers from any discipline, who can demonstrate a capability and drive to undertake a period of research in epidemiology (applied or methods development).
IEU Early Career Fellows will select a project from those advertised on the IEU website and should direct their personal statement to their capability and motivation to conduct innovative research on this topic. Projects have been designed to generate tangible outputs such as published papers, software or data sets within a 12-month period. The fellowship should not be viewed as an opportunity to complete PhD work.
This is a full-time post, but part-time will be considered at a minimum of 0.6FTE. Hybrid working is available: a m inimum of two days per week on campus. What will you be doing?
Successful candidates will undertake a focused research project under the supervision and mentorship of an experienced academic staff in the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit. This is a training position, so fellows will undertake a programme of tailored research and training activities such as developing new interdisciplinary skills, developing impact from your previous research, undertake short-term research project including pilot projects to support a competitive fellowship application.

The fellowship is aimed at early career researchers who want to consolidate knowledge and skills acquired in recent postgraduate training (PhD or MSc). Those with a suitable background in subjects such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, causal or translational epidemiology, data mining and bioinformatics, psychology, genetics, biomedical science, economics, medicine or policy studies are encouraged to apply.
