Job Description

We are excited to announce an opening at Sweet Tooth Pediatric Dentistry for a dedicated Pediatric Dental Assistant. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a vibrant and caring environment, focused on providing top-quality dental care to our young patients. Our state-of-the-art practice is renowned for a child-friendly setting, designed to make dental visits a positive experience for children.

This is a part-time or full-time (4-5 days) position located at our practice. As a Pediatric Dental Assistant, you will be an integral member of our dental care team, working directly under the supervision of our pediatric dentist to ensure the delivery of effective dental treatments and exceptional patient care.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the pediatric dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
  • Set up and break down operatory post-treatment.
  • Take, develop and mount dental radiographs (x-rays).
  • Manage dental office infection control protocol and ensure that all treatment areas are sterilized.
  • Interact positively with children and parents while providing information and educational resources on oral hygiene.
  • Maintain dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies.
  • Document dental care services by charting in patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Provide support with office administrative tasks when necessary.
  • Ensure operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, and troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to stay informed of new dental products and techniques for pediatric care.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid New Jersey dental assistant license.
  • Current dental X-ray license is compulsory.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills to effectively work with others.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Keen attention to detail for accurate record-keeping and dental procedure assistance.
  • Ability to maintain a calm, friendly demeanor in a fast-paced pediatric dental office environment.
  • Experience working with children and comfortable managing young patients in a medical setting.
  • Good communication skills are required for effective interaction with children, parents, and coworkers.
