Position
Central Coast Waldorf School is seeking an enthusiastic Middle School Math teacher who brings joy, warmth, and clarity to the classroom. The ideal candidate is inspired by the developmental approach of Waldorf education, and has experience teaching middle school students in math. Central Coast Waldorf School is a vibrant school with 100 children, from preschool through 8th grade. Location: Our school is located in Los Osos, a charming bayside community just 15 minutes from San Luis Obispo. Families from surrounding coastal towns such as Morro Bay, Cayucos, Cambria, San Luis Obispo and greater San Luis Obispo county, make up our school community. The area offers abundant outdoor activities, including beach excursions, hiking, biking, surfing and exploration of a nearby state park. It is beautiful here!
Essential Job Duties
● Lesson plan for the year for each grade (5th/6th and 7th/8th)
● Teach 45 minute math lessons 3x per week per grade
● Assess student proficiency and write reports 2 times per year
● Create a dynamic and engaging classroom environment that encourages math practice, new concepts and accountability
● Collaborate and communicate with lead class teachers and parents
● Contribute to school festivals, events, and performances
● Perform recess supervision duties
● Participate in professional development and ongoing study of Waldorf education
● Participate in all-faculty meetings
Preferred Qualifications:
● A Waldorf Teacher certificate, California credential or experience teaching
● Proficiency in mathematical concepts from 5th - 8th grade as well as be well versed in high school mathematics
● Experience teaching middle school students mathematics
● Familiarity with, or interest in, Waldorf education and its approach to mathematics
● Ability to foster a positive and creative learning environment
● Strong classroom management and student engagement skills
● Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community
Employment Details
This is an hourly position that pays $40.00 - $50.00 per class period, depending on qualifications and experience
