Job Summary

The Field Engineer will support field engineering activities related to mechanical, piping, and instrumentation systems within plant facilities. This role involves performing field walkdowns, verifying plant assets, updating engineering drawings, and coordinating with data control and drafting teams to ensure accurate documentation. The Field Engineer will work closely with the customer to understand requirements while ensuring engineering drawings and asset registers are updated and maintained.

 

Job Description

  • Interaction with GP team to ensure compliance with project standards
  • Field Engineering & Asset Verification
    • Conduct physical asset verification of plant equipment and piping systems.
    • Collect asset manufacturer plate details such as manufacturer name, model number, serial number, and part number.
    • Perform field walkdowns to verify existing plant equipment and instrumentation
    • Locate equipment and instruments on-site using engineering drawings such as location layouts, P&IDs, plot plans, and PFDs.
  • Engineering Documentation & Drawings
    • Prepare redlines and as-built drawings including P&IDs, location layouts, vendor drawings, and specification sheets.
    • Perform quality checks to verify updates and changes in engineering drawings.
    • Review vendor drawings and piping layouts to ensure accuracy with site conditions.
  • Coordination & Data Management
    • Coordinate with data control and drafting teams at offsite locations to update drawings and the asset register.
    • Manage data and documentation within EDMS/EDW systems.
    • Upload, download, and manage engineering data and documents within document management systems.
    • Work with customers to understand project requirements and communicate updates.
  • Systems & Tools
    • Utilize Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, SharePoint, and Aconex for documentation and reporting.
    • Import and export data from Excel and MS Access databases for documentation updates.

 

Skills Required

  • 5–7 years of experience in the piping, mechanical, and instrumentation domain.
  • Minimum 3 years of field walkdown or field work experience.
  • Experience working in refinery or chemical plant environments preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering drawings including.
    • P&IDs
    • Process Flow Diagrams (PFD)
    • Site plans and location layouts
    • Single line diagrams
    • Piping layouts and vendor drawings
    • Cause and Effect diagram consolidation
  • Knowledge of field instruments, control valves, equipment, and valves.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Preferred Electrical background

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Engineering

 

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to work full-time on-site in the field and at remote locations.
  • Valid TWIC Card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) required.

Pay Rate/Salary

  • Pay Rate $55/ hr (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
