McDonald Dental, an established, unique private practice, is excited to announce an opportunity to join our dedicated team as a Dental Assistant. This Part-Time position offers a chance to work in a dynamic and nurturing environment, where you will be able to contribute directly to the care and comfort of our patients. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in assisting with dental procedures and helping ensure the smooth operation of our dental office. You may also help at the front desk occasionally, as we all do help in various roles to make our work environment a collaborative and supportive space.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist during various dental procedures by handing instruments and materials or operating suction and other equipment.
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms in accordance with infection control policies.
• Work with patients to take dental x-rays under the guidance of the dentist.
• Help maintain dental records and schedule appointments as necessary.
• Contribute to the ordering and restocking of consumables and dental supplies.
• Ensure the comfort of the patients before, during, and after dental treatment.
• Assist with front office tasks as needed such as answering phones and greeting patients.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current certification in CPR and dental radiography, as required by state regulations.
• Proven experience as a friendly and reliable team member who positively contributes to team environments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills notable for interacting with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of infection control and cross-contamination avoidance.
• Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Willingness and ability to learn new skills and stay updated with advancements in dental practices.
• Demonstration of empathy, compassion, and a patient-centered approach to care.
• Physical ability to perform assigned duties which may require extended periods of standing, bending, and lifting.
• Legal authorization to work in the country without the need for sponsorship.
